InvestChile is the public agency that promotes foreign investment in the country and one of the organizations that has collaborated permanently with Hyvolution since its first edition was held in our country. An example of this link, in fact, was reflected a couple of weeks ago when InvestChile participated in Hyvolution Paris, along with a national trade mission that traveled to France to be part of the most important green hydrogen fair in Europe. “The balance was totally positive, being the first time we have had such a large delegation of Chilean companies and institutions,” says Cristian Sagal, commercial attaché in France and who, through InvestChile, coordinated an agenda of meetings and several initiatives with the purpose of promoting our green hydrogen industry and projecting the next version of Hyvolution, an event to be held from September 3 to 5 in Metropolitan Santiago. “As a country, we managed to position ourselves as a low-cost energy production alternative with two hubs, one in the north and the other in the south of Chile. In addition, several activities were carried out in this version and we had three presentations: Marcos Kulka director of H2 Chile, Joan Leal CEO of EDF Chile and the presentation of Gloria Maldonado president of the board of ENAP. We also carried out two networking activities, a breakfast in collaboration with the MEDEF Task Force, and a networking cocktail at the Chilean Embassy where a MoU was also signed between H2 Chile and France Hydrogène”, adds Sagal. “Another relevant aspect is that we achieved a rapprochement between foreign investors and the investment opportunities that were presented for this industry in Chile.” How do these initiatives or meeting points collaborate with the development of the energy industry and the challenge of sustainability? There is a great work to show what has been done in Chile with the H2V Roadmap, then the Action Plan and the declared projects. These types of initiatives allow us to convey this message more directly to large players in the global NCRE market, as well as to developers who are looking for new projects to develop the technology. Chile has the goal of being a carbon neutral country by 2050 and green hydrogen plays an important role in this path. Instances such as Hyvolution allow us to make visible the work we are doing in Chile on green hydrogen issues, to publicize our Action Plan and declared projects. It also allows us to deliver the message directly to the big players in the global NCRE market, as well as developers who are looking for new projects. What aspect would you highlight of InvestChile’s role with respect to the green hydrogen industry? As an agency for the promotion and attraction of foreign direct investment we have the mandate to promote Chile as an investment destination, we are a source of information for all new foreign entrants who wish to be part of the ecosystem in the country. In that sense, we have actively participated in working tables at the state level to be able to transmit what foreign companies tell us, and in that way be able to create an attractive ecosystem for foreign companies that wish to create new jobs, new technologies, and contribute with sustainable investment. After the work of the last few weeks, what is the position of Hyvolution Chile for its celebration in September of this year? It is definitely the leading fair in green hydrogen. Many foreign entrepreneurs expressed their desire to be part of this new version in Santiago, in order to better connect with local actors and access to be part of the hydrogen ecosystem in Chile. To foreign companies that are interested in developing projects related to green hydrogen in our country, we invite them to visit www.investchile.gob.cl and contact us to resolve their doubts with an executive specialized in the subject.
