Colbún, a leading company in renewable projects is part of Hyvolution Chile 2024

Colbún S.A. is a company with more than 38 years of experience in the generation and commercialization of energy, with an installed capacity of some 4,000 MW through 27 power plants. The company, which has operations in Chile and Peru, is promoting a strong program of solar and wind renewable energy projects to sustain its growth.

Colbún has extensive experience in the development, construction, operation and maintenance of large renewable projects, as well as in offering energy solutions for customers and in the fuel market; knowledge of the local energy market; long-term relationships with communities; and an outstanding performance in sustainability. The company promotes Green Hydrogen, because they want to deliver renewable energy to Chile, Peru and the world, in accordance with its purpose: “We transform energy, in balance with the planet, to boost your projects and dreams”. Led by the Hydrogen Management, the Company is currently exploring various initiatives in this area, both domestically and internationally: – In Chile, Colbún is currently building “Horizonte”, the largest wind farm in the country and the second largest in Latin America, with 816 MW of installed capacity. Among its 27 power plants in operation in Chile and Peru, it has three solar farms. It is also one of the first four companies to join as partners of the Chilean Hydrogen Association, H2 Chile, and today participates in its board of directors. – As for initiatives within Colbún, the company already has its first hydrogen plant at its Fenix power plant (Peru) and is developing a project at its Nehuenco power plant (Chile) to decarbonize the cooling of its generators. Among the Company’s advances in this area are the formation of a consortium to make the Santiago Airport the first in Latin America to operate with H2V and the participation of the consortium that is building the first hydrogen bus in Chile. “To develop hydrogen projects, collaboration and partnership are essential. At Colbún we have experience in the development and management of large projects, as well as in offering solutions,” says Juan Pablo Fiedler, Colbún’s Hydrogen Manager.
