One of the world’s largest hydrogen industry events will come to Chile to connect related companies and institutions, featuring a trade fair, international congress and commercial networking that will seek to boost the development of clean energy in Latin America. The largest international exhibition of the Green Hydrogen and Energy and Mobility industry, Hyvolution, will be held for the first time in Chile and will connect the entire continent between June 28-30, 2023. The international reference meeting, based in France, will bring together the entire value chain of the sector, bringing together in its exhibition more than 100 exhibitors, both national and international, from approximately 15 countries. Hyvolution Chile will be the commercial meeting point for more than 4 thousand executives of the participating companies who, in 3 days of activity, will be able to participate in the exhibition, international congress and commercial networking areas. The event organized by FISA, in collaboration with the Chilean Hydrogen Association (H2 Chile), will present in parallel to the fair a congress in which more than 40 speakers from the public and private sector, being referents of the industry, will address in conferences and seminars the most relevant issues for the sector, discussing the strategies required to achieve an energy transition that allows a proper balance between productive development and environmental care. The event will address topics on the effects of climate change on the country’s ecosystems, new technologies for the generation and storage of clean fuels, territorial planning and aspects related to the social licensing of projects. The importance of citizen and community participation, the role of public and private institutions, and the need for human capital with a focus on training and personal development, among others, will also be analyzed. During the three days of Hyvolution Chile, the congress will also highlight the latest developments, technologies and related innovations, giving space to the current hydrogen ecosystem, presenting various opportunities that would bring Chile closer to becoming a carbon neutral country. Green hydrogen in Chile could generate a competitive industry in international export markets, which would boost investment in green hydrogen and position the country as one of the leaders in the sector worldwide, due to its territorial characteristics, infrastructure and renewable potential. In view of this, Hyvolution presents the ideal scenario to analyze this new industry, and the possibilities that exist for the creation of dynamic economic ecosystems throughout the country. Rodrigo Valenzuela, manager of Hyvolution Chile, said that “green hydrogen is presented today as one of the most attractive energy sources for energy development, and its industry is at a key moment for the search and development of safe and efficient methods of transportation. This is why we want to bring together in Hyvolution Chile all actors that can contribute to the development of new green hydrogen projects, thus promoting a low-carbon economy that is a fundamental contribution to the protection of the environment”. GREEN HYDROGEN IN CHILE In May 2022, led by the Ministry ofEnergy, the Committee for the Productive Development of the Green Hydrogen Industry was created, an initiative that seeks to regulate the production of green hydrogen, both to address climate change through decarbonization, and to promote a more sustainable growth model for Chile. This new program will present public policy initiatives to promote opportunities in the industry. Currently, more than 40 projects have already emerged in Chile and new initiatives are expected by 2023. According to a study published by Bloomberg NEF, it is expected that, globally, hydrogen could assume up to 24% of the world’s energy needs by 2050.
