The hydrogen and green ammonia company is developing one of the country’s most relevant projects to contribute to national and global decarbonization and will present at the fair on Wednesday, June 28. Santiago, June 20 – Hyvolution, the main congress of the green hydrogen industry in Europe arrives in Chile and will have among its exhibitors MAE, a company that is developing in Mejillones the Volta hydrogen and green ammonia project, one of the most consolidated in the country. The project considers an investment of US$2,500 million for the installation of a modern plant that will produce a total of approximately 580 thousand tons/year of green ammonia. It will be developed in two stages. The first, starting in 2027, will produce 290 thousand tons/year of green ammonia, and the second will begin in 2030 to reach maximum production. The construction of a photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of 600 MW is also envisaged. The project, at full capacity, will contribute to the reduction of more than 1 million tons/year of CO2 emissions. Gonzalo Moyano will be speaking on June 28 on a panel on the importance of shared infrastructure, and how this aspect is key to the take-off of the national hydrogen and green ammonia industry. “With our Volta project, we seek to contribute to the reduction of polluting gas emissions nationally and globally to contribute to the construction of a sustainable future and thus address the current climate emergency affecting the planet. At the same time, we want to promote Chile as one of the main producers of green hydrogen, taking advantage of the competitive advantages that the country has, such as the solar potential of the Atacama Desert, the place with the highest solar irradiance on the planet”, says Gonzalo Moyano, general manager of MAE.
