The international delegation led by the Partners for International Business (PIB) program – The Green Energy Corridor Chile–The Netherlands – will participate in Hyvolution Chile 2026, the event taking place in Santiago from September 1st to 3rd. At this leading trade fair for the industry, the Dutch cluster will explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation in green hydrogen and its derivatives, connecting with key public and private sector stakeholders in the region.
As part of their tour of the country—which will run from August 27 to September 4, 2026—the Dutch delegation will also visit the Magallanes Region. In this southern region, the focus will be on evaluating shared infrastructure, port logistics, and the technical and regulatory governance models necessary to strengthen the energy value chain on a global scale.
The delegation will be joined by Ante Frens, an international executive with over 30 years of experience in the global energy sector and former Country Chair of Shell Albania—where he led corporate governance, stakeholder relations, and the strategic development of major energy projects. Frens will participate as an international expert in panel discussions, deliver a masterclass, and give presentations on the development of energy ecosystems and collaborative governance models.
Among the companies and institutions that make up the Dutch cluster delegation attending Hyvolution and Magallanes are Rotterdam Partners (program coordinator), Arcadis, Impact Hydrogen, Port Consultants Rotterdam, Proton Ventures, and Bright Renewables.
Frens stated, “I am excited to visit Chile as part of the Chile-Netherlands Trade Mission on Green Hydrogen. The 2026 program focuses on projects and solutions for the Magallanes Region, as well as participation in the Hyvolution conference. I see a large group of Chilean and Dutch representatives from companies, local governments, and communities joining forces. In my experience, this is a fundamental ingredient for the success of projects and for developing and implementing green hydrogen solutions as part of the global energy transition”.
Strategic Challenges in Magallanes: Logistics, Governance, and Energy Transition
During activities in the Region and the subsequent trip to Santiago, the mission will focus its discussions on three key conceptual pillars for the advancement of the industry:
Port Development and Enabling Logistics: Approaches and proposals to strengthen port infrastructure and logistics capabilities as essential drivers for the growth of the new clean energy industry in the Magallanes Region.
International Coordination Models and Best Practices: Transfer of governance experiences to connect industrial value chains, foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders, and structure a shared strategic vision for the regional port system as a logistics platform for large-scale investment projects.
Energy Transition and Industrial Impact: The role of the transition to clean energy in driving regional economic development, integrating the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives, industrial decarbonization, supply chain resilience, and the creation of a competitive and sustainable energy ecosystem.
Closing Agenda at Hyvolution Chile 2026
Following the activities in Magallanes, the delegation will travel to Santiago to actively participate in Hyvolution Chile 2026, where the members of the Dutch delegation will have a prominent presence on key panels and keynote sessions. These sessions will address the development of green energy corridors, hydrogen valleys, and regional cooperation frameworks.
Highlighting the central purpose of this new mission, Rianne Vriend, Business Manager Energy & Chemicals at Rotterdam Partners and coordinator of the PIB program, stated: “This trade mission reflects the evolution of our partnership with Chile. We are moving beyond individual projects to focus on the development of complete industrial ecosystems, where logistics, port infrastructure, governance, and international collaboration are fundamental to creating a competitive and sustainable hydrogen economy”.
For her part, Paula Galilea, Regional Business Developer & Trade Advisor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Chile, highlighted: “The Netherlands and Chile have built a strong and trusting relationship around the energy transition. Through initiatives like this trade mission, we continue to connect expertise, innovation, and public-private collaboration to support the sustainable development of the hydrogen industry in Chile, while creating long-term opportunities for both countries”.
