In an interview with Hyvolution Chile 2025, Victor Hugo Paredes, director of Power Systems for the South Andean Cluster of Schneider Electric, refers to the company’s participation in the exhibition and the importance that the Hydrogen Night will have in this edition.
What is the importance, for Schneider Electric, of an exhibition like Hyvolution taking place in Chile? What potential do you see in this country for the establishment and consolidation of this industry?
For Schneider Electric, meetings such as Hyvolution, considered the most relevant event in Latin America for this industry, are of great importance because they position Chile as a regional and global reference in the energy transition, especially in the development of green hydrogen.
In addition, thanks to its unique potential in renewable energies and its strategic position for the production and export of this clean fuel, the country continues to consolidate its leadership and, through events such as the Green Hydrogen Night, promotes its transition to a more efficient, competitive and sustainable energy matrix.
Regarding the potential for the establishment and consolidation of this industry in Chile, we consider that it has a very important opportunity to continue positioning itself regionally and globally, due to several key factors listed below:
Chile has one of the largest renewable energy generation capacities in the world, especially in solar and wind energy, with exceptional natural conditions that facilitate the sustainable production of green hydrogen at low cost.
Also, government commitment and clear policies, such as the National Green Hydrogen Strategy, aimed at positioning Chile as a global leader in the competitive production of this clean fuel for local use and export, along with a strategic geographical location and experience in industries such as mining that can take advantage of green hydrogen to decarbonize processes that are difficult to electrify.
This green industry represents an opportunity to diversify and add value to the Chilean economy, boosting job creation, innovation, industrial development and attracting international investment, to achieve a completely renewable energy matrix in Chile and promote large-scale mining, industrial sectors of great importance and the production of green hydrogen, projecting them as key drivers of the energy transition and sustainable development of the country.
Schneider Electric is also one of the companies sponsoring the Green Hydrogen Night, a networking event that seeks to connect industry leaders in a relaxed atmosphere. As a company, what value do you rescue from spaces like this to link the most relevant stakeholders of the green hydrogen ecosystem?
At Schneider Electric, we believe that Green Hydrogen Night is a key opportunity to connect the most relevant leaders and actors in the green hydrogen ecosystem, and also because it facilitates the creation of strategic alliances to accelerate the energy transition and the development of this growing industry.
On the other hand, the actors that are present in this type of spaces and that have in common the promotion of the green hydrogen industry in the region is essential to move towards an increasingly sustainable future. In this sense, fostering collaboration between government, companies, scientists and other committed actors contributes to promote cooperation, innovation and competitiveness, allowing Chile to continue leading the generation of renewable energies and the adoption of clean technologies.
Likewise, these events make visible the potential of green hydrogen as an engine of decarbonization and investment opportunity, in addition to strengthening the exchange of ideas, strengthening partnerships and discussion of innovative solutions that promote the development of the industry and sustainability.
At Hyvolution Chile 2025, Schneider Electric will present innovations related to the decarbonization of energy infrastructure, replacing the use of polluting gases with clean air. What is the relationship between these solutions and the sectors moving towards the adoption of green hydrogen?
It can be stated that this relationship is directly linked to the commitment we have as a company to contribute to the evolution of the Chilean energy system, offering concrete solutions that respond to the demands of sustainable electrification.
And on this occasion, we will present our SM AirSeT technology, an innovative medium voltage solution developed as a greener alternative that eliminates the use of SF6 gas, combining pure air insulation and vacuum cutting technology to replace the use of greenhouse gases.
It is important to highlight that this progress is in line with international efforts to reduce pollutant gas emissions, one of the greatest challenges facing today’s electrical infrastructures.
This is how our SM AirSeT cell has connectivity to collect and analyze data in real time through wireless sensors, facilitating intelligent and preventive energy management. It reduces maintenance costs and eliminates costs associated with the handling of fluorinated gases. This technology is aligned with sustainable electrification and the transition to clean energies such as green hydrogen.
Also, in order to drive increasingly sustainable and environmentally responsible energy management, sectors adopting green hydrogen as a driver of transformation require cleaner and more efficient energy infrastructures to support the development of this renewable and carbon-free energy source.
This is why our technology, which removes polluting gases from the electricity infrastructure, aligns with the decarbonization needed to facilitate the adoption of green hydrogen, one of the key vectors for energy transition and emissions reduction in sectors that are difficult to electrify.
