The agreement contemplates the joint development of diploma courses, postgraduate programs and applied research projects around the chain of generation and storage of green hydrogen with a collaborative, decentralized and regionally focused energy strategy.
During the third congress “Advances in the Green Hydrogen Industry and its Derivatives in the Antofagasta Region”, an important inter-institutional alliance was consolidated with the signing of the Collaboration Agreement for the Development of Human Talent, Research and Innovation in Green Hydrogen, signed between the Universidad de Antofagasta (UA), Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) and the trade association H2 Antofagasta AG.
Dr. Marcelo Cortés, Director of Innovation and Technology Transfer of the UA, commented that “the agreement aims to avoid harmful competition between institutions and to strengthen collaboration, especially in an area such as green hydrogen, whose challenges exceed the capacity of any single actor. At the University of Antofagasta, this is made concrete through the Energy Development Center (CDEA-UA).”
From H2 Antofagasta, its executive director Kenis Aguirre highlighted the relevance of the agreement: “Today we formalize an articulation that we have been developing for some time, and that has allowed us to generate key initiatives for training in green hydrogen. We believe that the synergy between universities and industry is essential to enhance the development of technical, professional and higher human capital in the region”.
This initiative represents a new sign of the Universidad de Antofagasta’s commitment to sustainability, the formation of specialized human capital and territorial collaboration to promote a fair energy transition from the north of Chile.
