Successful was the participation of the public-private delegation that attended the 2025 version of Hyvolution Paris, the leading exhibition and congress of the green hydrogen industry and its derivatives at international level organized by GL events, which this year brought together around 550 exhibitors from 30 countries and more than 11,000 visitors.

The activity included a series of conferences, panels and workshops, by more than 300 speakers, who for three days addressed critical issues such as market challenges, certification and standards, project implementation, new technologies, key applications and international trade, among others.

The meeting showed progress in the incentive mechanisms for the demand for contracts for difference, where the model that began in Germany has been exported to Japan, Korea, Australia, among others. This factor is critical for developing projects and obtaining investment. At the event, Europe also showed progress in its regulation and certification to import green and low-emission energy.

The Chilean delegation, organized by FISA and H2 Chile, was headed by the Undersecretary of Energy, Luis Felipe Ramos, and was sponsored by EDF, HIF, Engie, Cámara Franco Chilena, WOOD and supported by InvestChile, ProChile, Marca Chile. The delegation also included a large group of representatives of associations and companies such as: Business France, H2 Antofagasta, H2 Bio Bío, H2V Magallanes, Marval, EINAS, Electrival, Bond Energy Solutions, Engie Chile, Hexágono Ingeniería and Incubadora de la UFRO, and Corfo Magallanes, which reinforces the cooperation between Chilean and French companies, promoting innovation and the growth of the industry.

Carola Fuentes, General Manager of FISA, stated that “we have met with the main players in the industry, in a public-private instance that seeks to promote innovation and collaboration to meet the challenges of the energy transition. This trade mission not only allows us to strengthen international ties, but also to highlight the renewed interest in the key role that Chile plays in the region as a benchmark in green hydrogen”.

At the inauguration of Chile’s stand, the Undersecretary, Luis Felipe Ramos, stressed that the Government is working to promote the financial closure of green hydrogen industrial projects by 2026. And, in addition, so that between 2027 and 2030, there will be “the development of the green hydrogen value chain in order to achieve our goal of being a green hydrogen exporting country and develop a local value chain that allows showing the benefits of the industry in each of the territories in which it is being deployed”.

Marcos Kulka, Executive Director of H2 Chile, who presented the current situation of green hydrogen in Chile together with Juan Camus, Project Director of EDF in Chile and Director of the guild, said that the country managed to highlight its progress both on projects that are already operating, large-scale projects that have entered the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), regulatory developments, infrastructure and logistics plans, among others.

“Hyvolution Paris continues to show an important level of activity and dynamism, where France has included in its new strategy the interest of being able to finance equipment in Chile in early stages to develop local ecosystems. It seeks to incorporate green hydrogen and its derivatives in key export products such as copper, lithium or others,” added the union leader.

For his part, Juan Camus addressed the importance of green hydrogen within the EDF Group’s strategy to meet its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, and highlighted the key role of Chile: “The EDF Group’s green hydrogen strategy considers Magallanes as one of its priority poles given its competitive advantages. We are developing the industry and addressing the pending challenges within a framework of public-private cooperation with the objective that the projects are sustainable and generate a positive impact in the region”.

Among the strategic meetings that took place within the framework of this Congress, the meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance between both governments and the private sector, where the strategic work that has been carried out was consolidated. On the occasion there were presentations of the strategies of both countries, as well as presentations by several technology companies and developers. Present on the occasion were the Ambassador of Chile in France, Raúl Fernández; Marie-Aude de Saint Charles, General Manager of the French-Chilean Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Magali Cesana, Head of the Service of Bilateral Affairs and Internationalization of Companies (DGT) of France.

“Chile has much to offer in the green hydrogen sector, not only because of its capacity to produce it, but also because there are companies in the country that offer technology and services for this industry, and that have experience and exportable knowledge,” said the national director of ProChile, Lorena Sepúlveda, who valued that in this institution, whose office in Paris helped to articulate the Chilean presence in Hyvolution, ”we work to position our country as a key player in the global energy transition, promoting opportunities and building bridges between Chilean supply and international demand. Chile not only advances in its decarbonization strategy, but also consolidates itself as a regional benchmark in clean and sustainable energy”.

Delegation

The business delegation also included María Ignacia Varela, Vice President of Finance of HIF Global; Mauricio Ramírez, Development and New Business Manager of Marval; Carlos Muñoz, General Manager of EINAS; Darren Ledermann, Manager of Wood Energy Transition, among others.

“Wood is optimistic about the future of the green hydrogen ecosystem in Chile. Collaboration spaces with French institutions are opening up for the country’s companies and developers thanks to Hyvolution Paris and the strategic role that H2 Chile is playing to connect us with new actors. The presence not only of a Chilean delegation, but also a special one from Magallanes, makes the country show itself in a special way to the world. We also hope that the unique opportunity to participate as exhibitors in two forums dedicated to Chile and its projects within the fair will boost the interest of offtakers and foreign institutions to invest in H2 projects in the country”, said Ledermann.

Hyvolution will arrive in the country in its third version in September, between 2 and 4 of that month, and will be held at the Metropolitan Santiago, with the promise of maintaining its leadership as the leading meeting of green hydrogen in Latin America.
