The largest and most modern hospital in Chile is being built in Puente Alto, where the use of clean energy is also a protagonist.
Since 2022, the company Sacyr is in charge of the design and construction of the new Dr. Sótero del Río Hospital megaproject. It recently announced the incorporation of an innovative green hydrogen system to reduce emissions from its heavy machinery, marking a milestone in the construction industry.
It consists of a hybrid boom truck that uses a dual combustion system with green hydrogen, designed specifically for this vehicle in collaboration with the company AndesH2, with experience in Chile and Colombia. This system, a pioneer in boom trucks, injects 15% green hydrogen into the combustion chamber, reducing diesel consumption, improving energy efficiency and reducing polluting emissions.
This news is in addition to the announcement made by the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications on the granting of the homologation certificate of the first truck powered by hydrogen fuel cells in Chile. These are significant advances in terms of massification of green hydrogen as a viable and clean alternative for mobilization in the country.
At Hyvolution Chile 2025, which will be held between September 2 and 4 this year at the Metropolitan Santiago convention center, these and other innovations along the same lines will be available, in line with the mission to decarbonize Chile and move towards a just and sustainable energy transition.
