The pioneering Chilean electromobility startup will present its domestically manufactured hydrogen bus at the Latin American green hydrogen summit, offering live technical demonstrations, guided tours by engineers, and technology transfer sessions to position Chile as a leader in sustainable mobility and the development of clean technologies for export.
Reborn Electric Motors (REM), Chile’s first electric bus factory, will be a featured exhibitor at Hyvolution Chile 2025, the Latin American green hydrogen summit, where it will present the first hydrogen bus manufactured entirely in Chile as the centerpiece of its technological proposal.
The event will take place between September 2 and 4 at Metropolitan Santiago and will bring together industry leaders, international investors, and technology developers to accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy solutions. Reborn Electric Motors will showcase its operational hydrogen bus prototype—developed entirely at its Rancagua facilities—to offer an immersive experience that includes real-time technical demonstrations, guided tours by the engineering team, and knowledge transfer sessions aimed at decision-makers in the public and private sectors.
‘We are bringing Hyvolution not only a vehicle, but also the materialisation of technical capabilities that position Chile as an exporter of clean technology,’ explains Ricardo Repenning, co-founder of the brand and technology manager. ‘Our hydrogen bus represents the convergence of local innovation, operational sustainability and international projection.’
Technical expertise open to the ecosystem
During the three days of the event, Reborn Electric Motors will set up a technical demonstration area where visitors, the press, and industry stakeholders can learn about the inner workings of the hydrogen fuel cells integrated into the chassis; participate in guided tours led by project engineers to understand manufacturing, assembly, and quality control processes; access real operational data on range, energy efficiency, and maintenance costs; and engage directly with the technical team about adaptations for different industrial sectors.
Its participation in Hyvolution is based on its operational experience in highly demanding technical projects: its electromobility solutions are currently used in mining operations, scientific missions in Antarctica, and international markets such as Brazil, validating the robustness and adaptability of its technology. Furthermore, it seeks to position the country as a platform for the development and export of clean technologies, taking advantage of the convergence of local talent, strategic natural resources, and favourable regulatory frameworks for decarbonisation.
‘Our buses have operated in extreme conditions ranging from -30°C in Antarctica to the high altitudes and arid conditions of mining in central and northern Chile,’ Repenning points out. ‘This experience allows us to offer green hydrogen solutions with industrial reliability standards.’
REM’s hydrogen bus, publicly unveiled for the first time in December 2024, represents a milestone in the domestic manufacturing of advanced technologies and a concrete example of how Chile can lead the regional energy transition through local innovation.
Reborn Electric Motors has established itself as the country’s leading electric bus manufacturer, specialising in electromobility solutions for highly demanding sectors. Its track record includes the successful development of products that are currently used in mining operations, scientific missions in Antarctica and international markets such as Brazil, establishing the company as a benchmark in clean technologies manufactured nationally with global reach.
