The prominent economist, former minister and current director of Colbún will assume the strategic leadership of the meeting that will bring together the public and private sectors, contributing her vast experience in energy transition and environment to guide the debate on the future of clean technologies in the country.
Vivianne Blanlot, an economist from the Catholic University, with a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from American University, and current director of Colbún, has been appointed president of the Hyvolution 2026 Congress, a fair and exhibition to be held from September 1st to 3rd at Metropolitan Santiago. The event will bring together representatives from the public, private, and academic sectors to discuss the development of renewable energies, energy efficiency, and new clean technologies.
In her role, Blanlot will participate in defining the content, approaches, and strategic themes of the congress, developing a program focused on the main challenges of the energy transition.
“I see it as being the public face of the organization of this congress. I will participate in defining the content, the approaches, and identifying the most relevant topics. It’s a collaboration in which I will have a more representative role”, says Vivianne Blanlot, who has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors.
The economist served as Minister of National Defense during Michelle Bachelet’s first term, was president of the Council for Transparency, and held key positions in the energy and environment sectors, including executive director of the National Environmental Commission (CONAMA) and executive secretary of the National Energy Commission (CNE).
Her experience in the private sector is also extensive. She currently serves on the boards of companies such as Antofagasta Minerals, CMPC, and, since 2012, Colbún. Her focus today is on the energy transition.
“This energy transition is a process that will last many years, and obviously in Chile we have made progress in some areas, but we still have a long way to go in others such as transportation, industry, and so on. In that sense, the hydrogen industry has a variety of products, and we have to see how we integrate those products into our consumption. We have to grow along with the technological changes that this industry is experiencing”, she adds.
According to Vivianne Blanlot, events like Hyvolution allow industries to meet, stay updated, and learn about new clean technologies in different areas. This is based on three main pillars: sustainable mobility, electricity generation, and industrial decarbonization, with panels that will address topics ranging from the perspective of the government and industry associations to how global conflicts are redefining the energy transition from a geopolitical perspective.
“I think that is the great contribution that this particular event can make. Of course, with a special focus on hydrogen”, she affirms.
From FISA, its general manager, Carola Fuentes, notes that “we are very pleased that Vivianne Blanlot will assume the presidency of the Hyvolution 2026 Congress. Her extensive experience in the public sector, her expertise in energy and environmental matters, and her vision will be a fundamental contribution to guiding the discussions and content of this new edition. Her leadership will allow us to bring together different stakeholders around the challenges and opportunities that Chile faces in the development of clean energy”.
