During the event, cooperation, innovation, and human capital were highlighted as key factors in promoting this energy source as a driver of regional transformation.
From 22 to 24 July, Uruguay hosted the Regional Meeting on Renewable Hydrogen, where specialists from Latin America and Europe gathered to exchange experiences with the aim of promoting the sustainable development of green hydrogen.
Participants, including professionals from the Fuels and New Energy Division; the Participation and Social Dialogue Division; and the Gender and Human Rights Office of the Chilean Ministry of Energy, discussed the need to strengthen alliances and advance a common roadmap around human capital, innovation, and territorial development, fundamental pillars for promoting this energy source in the region.
Uruguay is one of the countries that will be present at one of the side events of Hyvolution Chile 2025, event of which the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, is honorary president.
This event was held as part of the TEI RH2 – Team Europe Initiative in Chile project, organised by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Ministry of Energy, with the support of the European Union and in collaboration with AGCID, with the aim of creating a space for exchange around three key dimensions of the development of this emerging industry: innovation, human capital formation, and territorial and community links.
Discussions during the event confirmed that countries in the region share a clear vision of the need to develop green hydrogen not only as an energy alternative, but also as an opportunity to rethink the industrial development model.
International cooperation, particularly the role of the AECID and the Chilean Ministry of Energy, is consolidating as a catalyst for regional initiatives that seek not only to decarbonise the economy, but also to build more equitable and sustainable futures for communities.
